How to Get a Perfect 5/5 Sort
A quick routine for ordering objects you have never seen side by side:
- 1Place the extremes first: Find the obviously smallest and largest objects and lock them into positions 1 and 5. That leaves only three objects to reason about.
- 2Estimate in powers of ten: Assign each object a rough bracket: centimeters, meters, tens of meters, hundreds of meters. Objects in different brackets sort themselves.
- 3Compare like with like: For two close objects, picture them side by side along the same axis. A long animal and a tall building compare differently than you might expect.
- 4Learn from the reveal: After each round, check the revealed measurements. Every surprise becomes a new anchor that makes future rounds easier.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you play Sort It?
Arrange the five randomized mystery objects from smallest (Position 1) to largest (Position 5) by dragging cards, tapping to swap, or clicking arrow buttons. Once satisfied with your sequence, lock in the order to reveal true measurements and check your score.
What is an order by size game?
An order-by-size game is a scale puzzle where players rank objects based on physical dimension—such as height, length, or wingspan—from smallest to largest. Sort It tests your mental yardstick by placing animals, landmarks, vehicles, and everyday items side-by-side.
How is Sort It scored?
You earn one point for each object placed in its exact correct position, for a maximum of 5/5 (a Perfect Sort). Your rounds played, perfect sorts, and average score are saved locally in your browser.
Can two objects ever be the same size?
No. Every set of five is chosen so that each object is at least 1.3× larger than the one before it, so there is always exactly one correct smallest-to-largest order.
