Our Mission

In an age of digital screens, human beings frequently lose a grounded, visceral sense of physical scale. On a smartphone screen, an ant, a blue whale, and planet Saturn all measure four inches across.

Size It Games was created to make real-world dimensions tangible and fun. We believe that estimation is an essential cognitive skill—one that combines science, geometry, and visual intuition. Every puzzle is designed to be accessible to anyone, completely free, with no sign-up or downloads required.

The Science of Scale Estimation

Size It Up is grounded in foundational principles of psychophysics:

  • Weber-Fechner Law: Human perception of physical magnitude operates on a logarithmic ratio scale, not linear subtraction. Missing a 2 cm object by 2 cm is drastic; missing a 30-meter blue whale by 2 cm is unnoticeable. Our scoring algorithms reward proportional accuracy.
  • Hollingworth Bias (Central Tendency): When estimating unfamiliar dimensions, observers systematically overestimate tiny objects and underestimate gargantuan ones. Size It Up lets you test and correct for this bias in real time.
  • Stevens Power Law: Perceived 2D surface area lags physical reality. We normalize every silhouette so area and length comparisons can be evaluated without cartographic distortion.

Data Accuracy & Silhouette Provenance

Every silhouette in our growing catalog represents a documented physical reality:

  • Animals & Dinosaurs: Typical adult dimensions verified from peer-reviewed zoological and paleontological records.
  • Landmarks & Architecture: Official architectural pinnacle heights.
  • Vehicles & Rockets: Manufacturer blueprints and space agency specifications.
  • Countries & Planets: Equal-area cartographic projections and planetary equatorial radii from NASA data.

Contact & Independent Development
